First Environmental Studies scholarship winners announced

Naomi Lin and Daniel Conway, both from Oak Park High School, are the winners of the COSF Environmental Studies Scholarship program that started this year. The announcement of the scholarship program for Ventura County high-school seniors drew a remarkable slate of candidates. It was a very tough decision for the scholarship panel to choose two recipients.

The application process included a 500-word essay detailing the applicant’s reasons for pursuing a career in environmental studies. Daniel focused on pollinators and added, “I want to be on the frontlines of the fight against climate change.” Naomi, a painter, poet and debate team winner said, “My passion resides in environmental law, pursuing a BA in Political Science with a minor in Environmental Studies.”

You can read more about these remarkable students, and other stories, in the COSF Spring Newsletter.
